The Mathis family wanted a full sized secondary home for their grown daughter and her family. They needed a real house, not a granny flat.
We maxed out California state limits at 1,200 sq ft with a full two bedroom detached ADU. It has a full kitchen, two bathrooms, laundry, and a private yard separated from the main house by landscape screening. Drives and walkways were designed to give both homes separate curb appeal.
Functions as two completely independent residences on one lot. Daughter and her family have full privacy. Under California SB 9, this ADU could be sold as a separate property in the future. Design has been featured in the Camarillo planning department as an exemplar.
